Solar and Backup Power Options

solar.pngSolar power is a viable option for powering a low-power FM radio station.

In December 2006 RadioActive installed a entirely solar power radio station in Antsaravibe, Madagascar.  The station can broadcast for 6 - 8 hours a day depending on the amount of sunshine during the day.  It is run on 5 x 120 Watt panels, 2 x 1600 Watt Inverters and 4 x 150 Amphour batteries.

We hope to have more information on the options available on our site shortly. In the meantime, please contact us to find out more.
